Concern in LS over bias against N-E women
Lok Sabha MPs on Wednesday expressed concern over the growing instance of harassment of girl students from Northeastern region. Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha during Zero Hour, Ramen Deka (BJP) demanded a statement from the Home Minister on the measures taken by the Government to protect the interest of the people, especially women, from the region in the wake of several incidents of rape and molestation in the national capital territory region. Khagen Das (CPI-M) said the alleged suicide by Dana Sangma and the alleged murder of Richard Loitam in Bangalore are examples of cultural gap between the North-East and the rest of country.
