Hang me before Afzal & Kasab, says frustrated ex-spy
Agent Vinod’s patience is running thin. On Friday he appealed to the Government of India to hang him ahead of Mohd Afzal Guru and Ajmal Amir Kasab without wasting time.
“As a true solider of Mother India I have failed to get justice from the highest offices in India now I want to appeal to the same Government to hang me. I am a traitor. I deserve strict punishment. After walking free from the Pakistani jail in 1988 I have been demanding the successive Governments to rehabilitate me but none have come forward to help me. It is better they hang me ahead of those who have already received capital punishment including Afzal Guru and Ajmal Kasab”, Agent Vinod told The Pioneer.
Sahni, sitting on fast unto death outside the Jammu Press club for last four days was readmitted in emergency ward of the Government medical college hospital on Thursday night after his condition deteriorated. He started his fast on April 20.
Doctors attending him are a worried lot. Fifteen (15) day long continuous fast has taken a heavy toll on his health. His vital organs are not even performing optimally. His heart is growing weak, his blood pressure is below normal, his kidneys are under lot of stress. He has lost several kilograms in the last two weeks but the indifferent State/Centre Government and senior officials dealing the case are still busy passing the buck.
Frustrated with the ongoing cat and mouse play Agent Vinod told The Pioneer, “Our country can afford to spend several crores of rupees on the security of terrorists, play politics over the issue of hanging convicts in the Parliament attack case and Mumbai terror attack but when it comes to helping people like me they develop cold feet and look for a policy framework”.
Sahni said, “All I wanted from this Government was a small piece of land where I can run a small business venture to earn my livelihood but even after sacrificing prime time of my life behind the bars in Pakistani jails the Government is not ready to consider my case”.
“I have been only given assurances that they are identifying places and searching land but till date I have not received any formal allotment order in my name”, he added.
Deputy Development Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma told The Pioneer, “I have gone through the case file of Vinod Sahni and after gathering inputs from different sources I have already recommended his case on compassionate grounds for allotment to the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal corporation”.
Verma said, “I am aware of the fact that due to continuous fast the overall health of Vinod Sahni has deteriorated. I am equally worried about his health status and had earlier directed my officers to shift him to the hospital”.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation KL Khajuria also called on Vinod Sahni in the hospital on Friday evening and inquired about his health status.
