Bookie robbed of cash, gold chain at Gandhi Nagar
A bookie was robbed of Rs35,000 and a gold chain by two bike-borne assailants at gun point in Gandhi Nagar area of East Delhi on Friday morning.
The victim, Ashok alias Balli, along with his nephew was coming from New Usmanpur when the incident took place.
A senior police officer said, the bookie, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, was returning home with Pawan around 5.45 am on Friday when the assailants intercepted him and pointed a
revolver towards them. They snatched Balli’s gold chain and Rs35,000 and fled. Balli, who is a registered history-sheeter at the Gandhi Nagar police station alleged that police ran away after seeing the assailants pointing a gun at them. An investigation has been initiated into the matter after his complaint.
Inquiry has been initiated and his allegations will be verified, the officer said. It is quite surprising that the assailants took away only one gold chain from Balli though he was wearing four more chains. Also, Balli had Rs73,000 more inside his pocket which the assailants did not touch. The sequence of incidents is also being verified, added the officer.
