Monorail projecton track: Dikxit
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dik**** on Thursday assured that the Delhi Metro will execute the proposed monorail project in the Capital and work for it has already begun.
She said that the monorail network will supplement the Delhi Metro network in reaching more far-flung areas.
She expressed confidence that the Government’s ambitious monorail project to provide last mile connectivity to Delhiites will be operated successfully by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). “The monorail project will be executed by the Delhi Metro only. We hope the monorail will be as efficient as the Metro network,” the CM said.
The Chief Minister suggested that the Delhi Government’s Public Works Department (PWD) and the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) follow in the footsteps of Delhi Metro in building a success story. “When Metro does something, there is a difference. They have meticulously cordoned off the Janpath area for construction, causing minimum hassles to the public. Even the closure of one carriageway of the Bahadur Shah Zafar (BSZ) Marg has not caused traffic jams,” she said.
She added that she has an ambition to make the Delhi Government and its employees as efficient as the Delhi Metro which she hailed for its ‘meticulous planning’ and dedication. “We have an ambition that every Government department and employee become as efficient as Delhi Metro. The departments should take Metro as their role model and strive to achieve more than that,” she said.
Dik**** was effusive about the Delhi Metro, its former chief E Sreedharan and the present Managing Director Mangu Singh for giving the national capital an unparalleled gift. She also gave away awards to outstanding people. The best station award was given to HUDA City Centre Metro station.
