    25-yr-old woman jumps off MG Road Metro station, dies

    A possible marital discord drove a 25-year old woman over the edge in Gurgaon on Thursday. HDFC bank employee Priya Khandelwal allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the elevated MG Road Metro Station in the afternoon.

    She was rushed to the Uma Sanjivani Hospital in DLF Phase-II nearby from where she was referred to Medanta Hospital. The woman succumbed to her injuries at Medanta.

    A mobile phone recovered from the spot is being examined by experts. No suicide note was recovered from her possession.

    “She was talking over phone to her husband or in-laws from the MG Road Metro station. Something went wrong and she jumped from the elevated station,” police sources said. The incident took place at about noon.

    The victim Priya Khandelwal was a native of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh and she had been living in a paying guest (PG) accommodation since the past three months in Sector-44 of the city. Passersby and local shopkeepers almost immediately rushed her to the hospital but her injuries — fractures on her body and head — were too serious and the doctor at the first facility referred her to a better hospital for treatment. “Following the statement of the victim’s parents, Gurgaon police has filed a case of abetment to suicide under Section-306 of IPC against her in-laws and husband in Metro police station,” Maheshwar Dayal (DCP) East,
