Cop shoots self dead in Nangloi
Disturbed over an astrolger’s claim that there will be a death in his family in the near future, a Delhi police Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) shot himself dead in Nangloi area of West Delhi. Raja Ram (55) shot himself dead with his service revolver on Monday.
According to a police official, Raja Ram, who was deputed with West Dehi’s Nangloi police station as an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), shot himself with his service revolver around 2.30 am on April 30 inside his residence. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
“No suicide note was recovered from his possession. Initial inquiry revealed that he was worried over some deaths that occurred in his family in the span of a few years,” said a police official.
According to a neighbour, a few days ago, Ram had contacted an astrologer who told him that there could be death in his family. He had been disturbed since then and on April 30, he shot himself dead inside his room. He was also worried after he could not contact his son after trying to contact him repeatedly for hours on Monday, the nieghbour added.
Ram, who hailed from Rewari in Haryana, had been staying in Nangloi’s Veena Enclave for 25 years.
