    Newly-married woman murdered in Kalyanpuri

A newly-married woman was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in her house in Kalyapuri area of East Delhi in the wee hours of Saturday. The police suspect that her husband was involved in her murder as he had been absconding since. She was married merely a week ago.

The deceased has been identified as Gul****a, a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district and was married to Mohammad Akram, (23). The couple was living in a rented accommodation in the area. The incident came to light when a neighbour of Gul****a called her father Shahabuddin in Meerut, expressing apprehension over the security of his daughter as neighbours complained that they have not seen her since some days.

“As Shahabuddin was informed, the victim’s worried father immediately approached Delhi Police. When police reached the spot, they found the main door of the house bolted from inside. Police broke the door and found Gul****a lying unconscious in the room,” said a senior police officer.

“Later she was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital around 3 am where she was declared brought dead. Prima facie it appears that the deceased was strangulated. However, we have sent the body for post-mortem. The exact cause of the death will be ascertained only after the post-mortem report comes in,” said the officer.

The officer also said the neighbours of the deceased had told the police that the couple used to have heated arguments frequently, hence police suspected that her husband Akram, who is presently missing, might be behind the death of his wife.

“A case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Kalyanpuri police station. Since the woman died within seven years of her marriage, a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) inquiry has also been initiated,” the officer added.
