    Habib to restyle CRPF katora cut

    Close on the heels of getting its cooks trained under chefs of star-rated hotels, the CRPF is all set to get train its personnel trained in hair styling from celebrity hairstylist Jawed Habib.

    There are about 700 barbers with the CRPF and initially, some of them will be trained as master barbers who in turn will impart training to their fellow barbers. The trained barbers will help the force move away from the present “katora cut” and create a new style.

    Habib will be conducting a 6-day workshop in basic hairstyling and grooming skills for the barbers of the paramilitary. The aim of the training is to enhance and upgrade

    outdated techniques and equipment with the latest in use in the industry.

    The inaugural ceremony for the training was conducted at the CRPF’s Special Duty Group campus in South Delhi recently.

    As with other forces, the CRPF sports a functional and non glamorous look and Habib may not introduce anything drastically different. He will, however, create a new style for the uniformed men.

    “It is a welcome move for CRPF to think of styling their battalions and I am particularly happy that they chose me to associate with this cause. It is indeed a pleasure in guiding the barbers to give our Forces a fresh, smart look,” according to Habib.

    The workshop also aims at improving the knowledge of CRPF’s barbers and to introduce them to modern hairstyling techniques including basic hair structure knowledge, scissor practice, tools knowledge, personal hygiene and personality, sterilization and public sanitation.

    The barbers trained by Habib will receive a certificate from the Habib Academy.

    There 210 operational battalions besides two Mahila Battalions and each battalion has four to five barbers.

    “The aim of training module is to enhance the grooming skills of our barbers,” said a CRPF official.

    Jawed Habib has an illustrious legacy with his grandfather being employed as a barber in the Viceroy House and served the last British viceroy, Lord Mountbatten. After independence, his grandfather is said to have served various Presidents and Prime Ministers of the country including Jawaharlal Nehru.
