MLA made, received 367 calls from jail
During the March 30 Rajya Sabha election when powerbrokers were involved in managing votes of MLAs for their choicest candidates an MLA lodged in the Birsa Munda Central Jail was in touch with these powerbrokers through mobile phone.
The Pioneer probing wheeling-dealing during the Rajya Sabha election stumbled upon this astounding fact. Noticeably, after the election’s notification till March 29 the said MLA had made at least 251 calls to six different numbers. He had received 116 calls from three different numbers. Nevertheless, the Birsa Munda Central Jail is equipped with mobile phone jammers.
The report available with The Pioneer shows that the said MLA had made 120 calls to one JMM MLA during that period. The MLA had made seven other calls on alternative number of the same MLA from inside the jail. CBI sources commented that the said JMM MLA had played a dubious role during the election.
The MLA was in touch with a Minister of State Government through private secretaries of the Ministers. Out these two, one Minister is believed to be under CBI scanner for his alleged role in horse trading during the RS election.
To keep communication secret; they mostly used one or other personal numbers. In one such communication with the private secretary of the Minister (under scanner) he had made 26 calls. The MLA, apparently, was in longer conversation with another private number of a Minister who rather used two secret BSNL numbers. To one such number (0 was added as the last digit) he made 88 calls while making eight calls to another BSNL number of the said person.
If we take a look at the calls received by this jailed MLA they are from two different numbers of a JMM MLA. The said JMM MLA whose role in the money game is believed to be under investigation of the CBI had made 97 and 18 calls on two different numbers of that jailed MLA during the last 10 days of month of March.
A top intelligence official who had kept close eyes on the money game during the Rajya Sabha too substantiated the findings of The Pioneer. “Frequent calls were made and received from inside the jail. Though, they can’t be nailed on the mere basis of conversation. They may claim that they were discussing about affairs of the State and even talking some spiritual matters. Such calls will prove crucial part of the investigation,” an official said.
There is nothing to surprise if the jailed MLA talked over mobile. During Budget Session; Assembly Speaker CP Singh had revealed that he on many occasions received calls from the Birsa Munda Jail.
