Gadkari to meet Shanta Kumar, Dhumal
With crucial Assembly polls getting closer and the BJP desperately grappling to put its house in order, party’s chief Nitin Gadkari has called both Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar for an urgent meeting.
Recently, Rohru MLA Khushi Ram Balnatah wrote a letter to Gadkari seeking the central leadership’s intervention for change of guard in Himachal Pradesh ahead of election. The letter triggered a verbal duel between State BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti and the MLA with party issuing a show cause notice for going public.
Already grappling with comments of suspended party MP Rajan Sushant, the BJP is once again facing another front in the form of Balantah.
Team Kangra, comprising party leaders, MLAs, Ministers all loyalists of former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar, have already voiced annoyance over the Government and some Dhumal loyalists interfering in the district.
Along with Dhumal, Satti and organisation secretary Pawan Rana has also been called to Delhi in which general secretary JP Nadda and State co-in-charge Shayam Jaju are likely to participate.
A scheduled Cabinet meeting is likely to be held on Monday morning after which CM will leave for Delhi.
Gadkari had also earlier called a meeting of Dhumal and Kumar but it could not take place.
owing to Kumar’s ongoing tour to Bangalore while Chief Minister was busy in view of his prior engagements in different districts.
National president had earlier chaired meeting of four Cabinet Ministers Ravinder Singh ravi, Rajeev Bindal, Kishan Kapoor and Ramesh Dhawala over infighting. Bindal was made general secretary of the party in State recently.
The Central leadership, in past six months, has taken several steps to put its house in order in the State and asked the leaders and party workers to show unity.
Sources said that issue of formation of new districts in the State is also likely to come up in the meeting. The Shanta Kumar faction has been opposing the move while Dhumal faction wants it to be done ahead of the polls.
