UP Haj Committee website hacked; 170 names added
In a sensational revelation, it has emerged that at least 170 persons got their name included in the list of Haj pilgrims by hacking the website of the State Haj Committee.

While a probe has been ordered into the scandal by Haj Minister Mohammad Azam Khan, an FIR is expected to be lodged against the errant 170 people.

At a hurriedly convened press conference, Azam Khan gave out details of the case and said the irregularities were made with the connivance of officials against whom stern action would be initiated. He said the anomaly could be detected due to proper co-ordination between the Central and state Haj committees. Khan said there were 152 applicants in the pilgrims waiting list.

It is believed that they got the official website hacked with the help of Mumbai and Delhi-based agencies and got their names included. “Besides 18 others, who did not even apply for pilgrimage, also got their names included fraudulently,” Khan said. “Besides instituting an inquiry from 2008, I have asked officials to get FIR lodged against these persons and to blacklist them for the pilgrimage,” he added.
