    Seminar held on role of physical education

    Higher Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma inaugurated a seminar on relevance of physical education in higher education course here on Monday. The seminar was organised by Madhya Pradesh Collegiate Physical Instructors Union at Shaheed Bhawan.

    Sharma said that physical education and sports were vital for the all-round development of students. He said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had given priority to development of sports. As a result, youths’ inclination towards sports had increased. State’s youths had brought laurels to Madhya Pradesh in national games. MLA Deepak Joshi also expressed his views at the seminar.

    Sharma said that decision on inclusion of physical education as subject in the curriculum will be taken after deliberations. He said that action will be ensured on the suggestions to be put forth by scholars and conclusions to be drawn at the seminar. The Higher Education department will implement good schemes of other States and implement them in Madhya Pradesh.

    At the seminar, scholars expressed their views on relevance of physical education in higher education course.

    Madhya Pradesh State Officers Association president RK Chaurasia threw light on causes and treatment of diseases. State general secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Gyan Prakash Tiwari, Football Federation president Akhilesh Khandelwal, Director of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) IM Qureshi and other guests described physical education and personality development as very important. Hamidia College principal Sudha Singh, sports officers of State’s colleges and students were also present on the occasion.
