Kolhan varsity Pro V-C sacked
Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kolhan University Laksmisree Banerjee, known for courting controversies, was sacked vide a notification issued by Raj Bhavan on Monday evening. The notification stated that the Governor had removed her from his post with immediate effect.
The Governor, also Chancellor of State universities, based his call on a report submitted by a high-level committee. The three-member team headed by former Vice-Chancellor of Ranchi University AA Khan was constituted in November last year to investigate allegations against Banerjee.
"The Pro V-C was involved in mismanagement of varsity funds and, during her tenure, was found to have spent most of her time in Jamshedpur instead of university headquarters in Chaibasa,” said a varsity official on conditions of anonymity.
Kolhan University Vice-Chancellor Salil Roy confirmed that he had received the notification from Raj Bhavan but refused comment.
Banerjee said, "I don't want to say anything. I have not received any letter as such from the Raj Bhavan.”
