CBI reiterates its stand on PM, PC before JPC
Reiterating its old stand, CBI told JPC on Tuesday that there was no role of collusion of neither any one from PMO nor Home Minister P Chidambaram in former Telecom Minister A Raja’s controversial 2G spectrum allocation.
According to sources, CBI officials led by Director AP Singh took the consistent view on providing clean chit to PM, PMO officials and Chidambaram on the questions raised by MPs from opposition parties.
CBI investigators briefed the JPC on the ongoing probe on money trail and difficulties on replies from abroad to the Letter of Rogatories (LoR) sent. Sources said that CBI officials admitted delay in filing chargesheet in Aircel-Maxis deal due to the delay from Malaysian authorities side. CBI had charged Malaysian company Maxis’ owners T Ananda Krishnan and Ralph Marshall and not yet able to get in contact with them.
According to Opposition MPs, CBI evaded questions on the role of Chidambaram in the Aircel-Maxis deal and the investigators’ answers were limited to the probe on former Minister Dayanidhi Maran.
CBI has already sent LoRs UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Cyprus, Virgin Islands, Switzerland and Mauritius on the 2G money trail cases involving Reliance Telecom, Swan Telecom and Unitech’s money transfers.
