MP gets 12% more power during first quarter
Twelve per cent more power has been supplied in the State during the first quarter from April to June, 2012 compared to the corresponding period last year. Due to increased availability, power was supplied for 24 hours at divisional and district headquarters, more than last year at tahsil headquarters and average in rural areas. Maintenance programme of thermal power plants has been revised as a result of this situation.
Power Generating Company also generated 23 percent more power than last year in the first quarter. Due to it, 12 per cent more power could be supplied to consumers. In all, 3488.09 million units (MUs) were supplied in April 2012-13, which is 7 per cent more than 3264.23 MUs, supplied in the corresponding period in 2011-12. In May this year, 366.59 MUs were supplied, which is 11 percent more than last year.
In all, 3305 MUs were supplied during May 2011-12. Similarly, 3317.14 MUs were supplied in June this year, which is 19 percent more than the corresponding period of last year. In June 2011-12, 2788.86 MUs were supplied. A total 9359.61 million units were supplied in the first quarter of 2011-12. During the corresponding period in year 2012-13, 10472.82 MUs have been supplied which is 12 percent more than the last year.
Power banking of 183 million units has been made in view of ensuring more power supply to consumers during Rabi season.
Last year, banking of only 83 MUs was made.
Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company earned Rs 49.69 crore by selling 181 million units during this period. Besides, Rs 135.45 crore income was also generated by the state through less drawal than 464 million units of its share.
