Wife motivates Maoist husband to surrender in Jharkhand
Motivated by wife, an extremist on Wednesday surrendered before the police here along with an imported revolver.
Self-styled Area Commander of the People’s Liberation Front of India, a splinter group of the CPI (Maoist), Charku Pahan alias Budhu Munda surrendered with 9mm pistol and three bullets, SP M Tamilvananan said here.
His wife, not connected with extremism, brought him before the police, Tamilvananan said adding a cheque for `50,000 was handed over to the couple under the Jharkhand Surrender Policy. Rest benefits under the policy would be given to the surrendered ultra, he said. Pahan faced 10 extremist-related cases in the district. More than 50 extremists of different outfits have surrendered since ‘Operation Nai Disha’ was launched nearly two years ago.
