Ornaments worth Rs10 lakh stolen from temple at Rajpur
Thieves made away with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs10 lakh from Sai Baba Temple in Rajpur on Tuesday night.
The things stolen from the temple included the ceremonial silver umbrella (chhatra) of the deity, two lions made of silver, two silver plates and a gold-and-rudraksh mala among other things. The silver umbrella alone weighed about 15 kg according to the temple management.
“We are focussing on the modus operandi of the thieves and all such gangs and people that have been found involved in such thefts. We have also dispatched teams to Uttar Pradesh and other places for investigation,” said SSP Neeru Garg.
According to the police, the security arrangements at the temple were not sufficient. “The chowkidar only comes in night.
