CM Akhilesh launches free ambulance service
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday launched a free ambulance service for the poor and also waived admission fee for outdoor patients in Government hospitals.
Flagging off the 200 new ambulances of the UP Ambulance Services (UPAS) from his 5, Kalidas Marg residence on Wednesday morning, the Chief Minister said free ambulance service would be provided to people living below Poverty Line and pregnant woman. He also announced the waiver the `35 admission fee charged from patients in the government hospital with immediate effect.
While expressing hope that the UPAS would strengthen the State’s health system, Yadav used the occasion to announce more medical facilities for the people. He said all girls going to schools and colleges, and students between six and 16 years age studying in government schools would get free medical facilities.
While expressing concern over acute shortage of doctors and para-medical staff in government run hospitals, Yadav said the Samajwadi Party Government was committed to improve the Stet health system and would appoint more para-medical staff and doctors, and press more than 1,000 ambulances into service by October.
