‘Coalgate a loot of national resources, apology needed’
A prominent member of now disbanded Anna Hajare team and former IPS officer, Kiran Bedi has described the alleged irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks as loot of national resources, asking politicians, bureaucrats and corporate houses to seek apology from the country for causing the colossal loss to public exchequer.
Talking to the media in Patna on Wednesday after attending a college function, she told newspersons that politicians and bureaucrats have abused their “trustee” power over coal, water and other natural resources. Politicians and bureaucrats who indulged in the loot of public money did not realize that the “chicken will rule the roost” one day.
“I am not accusing any particular political party but some politicians have certainly misused their positions when they were in power”, she added.
Even when a small incident of pick pocketing takes place, an FIR is lodged but which police station of the country will register an FIR against those responsible for irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks, she asked. “We were demanding an independent CBI only for such occasions when the central investigating agency could probe cases of such proportions without any fear”, she remarked.
