CBI raids offices of three companies for giving wrong info

Continuing its ongoing nationwide raids, Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths on Tuesday raided premises of three companies in Chhattisgarh in connection with providing wrong information for allocation of coal blocks in the State.

Sources said the raids started simultaneously in Raipur, Raigarh and Champa-Janjgir at 9.30 in the morning.

Sources further informed that while a team of national investigating agency raided offices of JLD Yavatmal Energy in Raigarh, another team conducted search at Vandana Vidyut Limited offices in state capital Raipur.

Detail about the companies which were raided at Champa-Janjgir was not clear. Notably, out of the five business houses against whom the CBI had filed cases two have been allocated coal blocks in Chhattisgarh. JLD Yavatmal Energy, offices of whom were raided on Tuesday, is owned by Nagpur based Congress MP Vijay Darda.

Name of the Darda’s company was not recommended by the State Government, however, the Centre allocated him coal block directly.

Darda’s company has been allocated Fatehpur East coal block as the JLD Yavatmal Energy allegedly promised to set up power plant at Raigarh but failed to do so. CBI has also filed a case against this group.

In Raipur, Vandana Vidyut Limited’s MG Road located office and their residential premises were raided by CBI officials who also reportedly seized some documents. However, no case has been filed against the group for the time being. Vandana Vidyut Limited has also been allotted Fatehpur East Coal block.
