Live bomb defused in Sukma
The District Force (DF) personnel defused a 10 kg bomb in Maoist insurgency-riddled Sukma district on Monday. The bomb was planted near a temple in Ramarama village about 7 kms from Sukma district.
Police said a team of DF personnel led by SDOP Lakhan Patle found the bomb when they returned from a search operation in nearby areas at around 4 pm. A detonator and about 200 meter long wire were also found along with the bomb.
No sooner the bomb was found, a bomb squad was called in and defused it safely. Sukma is part of the sprawling Basar region that has witnessed a string of deadly attacks in recent years. Maoists are believed to have run a parallel Government in interior pockets since late 1980s.
