PM defending the indefensible, alleges CPM
The CPI (M) politburo blamed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for “defending the indefensible” in Coalgate and sought a high-level probe, including the role of PMO in coal block allocations.
“The Prime Minister in his statement tabled in Parliament has sought to defend the indefensible. The Prime Minister is in the dock for the policies and decisions which have led to high-level corruption in the coal block allocations.
“The politburo demands a high-level enquiry which should encompass the role of the Prime Minister’s office in the allocation of coal blocks. Action should be taken against all those found responsible for wrong doing and causing loss to the exchequer. In the meantime, the coal block allocations to private companies, which have been done in an irregular fashion and those who have violated the terms and conditions, should be cancelled forthwith,” said the politburo in a statement after its two-day meeting ended on Sunday.
The Left party also urged for thorough probe on the findings of CAG on irregularities land allotment to Delhi Airport developer and shifting of allotted coal from Sasan power project.
