Citing complexities involved, the CBI has sought more time from the CVC for completing its Preliminary Enquiry into the coal block allocations. The agency was supposed to complete the probe by September 1 and accordingly furnish a status report to the CVC. Insiders, however, claim the agency is yet to gather all the files related to the allocations as some of them are still lying with the PMO. The Coal Ministry is yet to furnish all the records related to the allocations, saying some of them are lying with the PMO and others are with the CVC. CBI sleuths say it’s high time an FIR is registered and related offices are raided so that crucial evidence is not tampered with.
