Andhra CM pushes mass contact plan
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy completed the fifth leg of his three-day mass contact programme ‘Indiramma Bata’ in Kurnool district last week. Reddy said that `26,000 crore worth benefits were being given annually to various sections of the people in the State and each family was getting the benefits of four or five schemes, including interest-free loans to one crore farmers, 1.4 crore Women’s Self Help Groups (SGH), scholarships to 26 lakh students and Indira Jala Prabha to six lakh SC, ST families from the Government.
While interacting with the SHG for women at Atmakur on the final day of his mass welfare contact programme on Friday, Reddy said although interest-free loans to women have caused a burden of `1,500 crore to the exchequer, the Andhra Pradesh Government is not worried about it as the Congress Government is committed to the cause of women’s empowerment.
Reddy said the main objective of the ‘Indiramma Bata’ is to streamline the programme taking stock of the situation in all the districts to ‘reach the unreached’ and help out distressed people with a three-day tour for each districts of the State. The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Ministers and officials of the State administration.
Reddy has also announced a ‘Indiramma Bata’ tour schedule up till February 2013 to reach the doorsteps of the downtrodden for redressal of their grievances. Reddy’s next ‘Indiramma Bata’ programme is scheduled at Mahabubnagar and Krishna districts during this month followed by Medak, Visakhapatnam and Prakasam districts in October.
In November, he will tour Ranga Reddy, Chittoor and Anantapur districts and in December, Reddy will carry forward Indiramma Baata to Nellore, Nalgonda and Nizamabad districts. He will be touring Vizianagaram, Guntur and Karimnagar districts in January and Kadapa, Warangal and Adilabad in February to reach the unreached downtrodden.
