Rahul vows rehab to violence-hit
All India Congress Committee (AICC) General secretary and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday visited the three violence hit districts of Assam — Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri — and assured proper rehabilitation to the affected people soon.
Gandhi arrived in the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport near Guwahati around 9 am and left for Kokrajhar in a special helicopter.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and State PCC Chief Bhubneswar Kalita and some other ministers of the Assam Cabinet received Gandhi at the airport. Gandhi visited five relief camps—two each in Chirang and Dhubri districts and one in Kokrajhar district and interacted with the inmates of the relief camps. “We are all Indians and so we all have to stay together and solve our problems together,” Gandhi said while interacting with journalists after visiting a relief camp at Chirang district.
“Rahul Gandhi also met the district administration officials in the three districts and requested them to keep the rehabilitation of the displaced people as their topmost priority,” said a senior APCC leader.
