Prove allotment charge, Jaiswal tells BJP

The ongoing war of words over coal allocation had a spill over effect in Lucknow with Union Minister for Coal Sri Prakash Jaiswal challenging the BJP to come up with proof of his involvement in the allotment or tender public apology for misguiding the nation.

''I have said time and again that no coal block was allotted in the UPA-II while I was given the ministry. If the BJP or any other party has any evidence on my involvement they should make it public,'' said Jaiswal while accusing the BJP for boycotting Parliament refusing to discuss the issue before countrymen.

Admnitting that Manoj Jaiswal was a kin, the minister said that nor he had recommended his name during UPA-I or allotted him a coal block in this term. ''I was not involved with allocation of coal block to anyone and hence my favouring Manoj Jaiswal does not hold water," Jaiswal said that while talking to media persons at VVIP guest house on Tuesday evening.

Defending PM Manmohan Singh on the coalgate, Jaiswal said that the BJP was framing an innocent person for their own vested interests. "It was Manmohan Singh who introduced bidding process in coal block allotment transparently despite opposition by BJP-ruled states in 2004. But now everyone is levelling wild allegations against him,'' he claimed.

Rejecting the BJP's demand of setting up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the allotment scam, Jaiswal said when the CBI is already probing then what was the need of another probe. The ongoing war of words over coal allocation had a spill over effect in Lucknow with Union Minister for Coal Sri Prakash Jaiswal challenging the BJP to come up with proof of his involvement in the allotment or tender public apology for misguiding the nation.
