Congress, Govt flay BJP for clean chit
The Congress and the Government on Wednesday flayed the BJP for giving a clean chit to its president Nitin Gadkari saying that it revealed the doublespeak of the Opposition party.
Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury said that BJP had been repeatedly attacking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and demanding his resignation, but it now has given a clean chit to its own president. This revealed the doublespeak of BJP, she pointed and said the Opposition must introspect and answer the questions raised.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari questioned the “strange process and an incredible mechanism in which the informer, investigator and the judge is the same” in case of Gadkari. He also termed the demand for Gadkri’s ouster as a manifestation of the internal battle within BJP.
Tewari drew a parallel between BJP and Arvind Kejriwal’s India Against Corruption, saying there was a similarity in the methods adopted by the two when faced with questions.
“What is remarkable is that those who call themselves social activists, if questions are raised on their methods and when the BJP is questioned, then the process of exoneration is the same,” he said, adding those who call themselves as social workers are just a B team of one of the BJP camps.
Congress general secretary BK Hariprasad said that in view of recent revelations Gadkari should close his political office and go back to doing business with Purti.
