The collector also sought inspection of other quarries to know if their functioning was legal or not. p Mathrubhumi News had reported that rampant quarries were functioning at Santhanpara illegally. Many quarries are functioning violating environmental guidelines on the Poopara-Nedunkandam road. The quarries are managed by Udumbanchola Chembala native Muhammed Iqbal./pp Permissions for the quarries were given without conducting any surveys or inspections. There are also news that forest department approval too was not sought. The workers in these quarries are from Tamil Nadu.
