HC grants police protection to V-Star group of companies

Kerala High court today granted police protection to V-Star group of companies for loading and unloading of goods from their gowdown. The order in this regard was issued by a division bench comprising justice R Basant and justice K Surendra Mohan on a petition filed by V Star General Manager K Vaidyanathan seekign police protection.

The petitioner complained that CITU workers were obstructing loading and unloading of goods from their godowns. The bench said police should give adequate police protection to the workers of the company. The court permitted the 11 registerered workers tso carry out the loading and unloading work until their registeration is in force. V Star creations, a garment arm of the V star group, had recently started two new branches. When their employees began unloading some cartons from the Puthukalavattam office, some CITU workers objected saying only they could unload the goods.

The management stated that their 11 workers, who were unloading had the ID card as per the Kerala Head load workers act. After CITU workers prevented unloading of goods of the V-Star creations company's Managing Director, Kochouseph Chittilappilly, had to don the role of a head load worker. A dispute has been raging since monday last between the company management and CITU union workers over the payment of 'nookuli'(a local term for ghost wages claimed by headload workers even if the work is not entrusted to them).
