‘DGP’s bid to protect Kunhalikutty’
Kozhikode-based businessman KA Rauf, whose startling disclosures had led to the reinvestigation of Kerala’s infamous ice cream parlour sex scandal in which Industries Minister and his relative PK Kunhalikutty is allegedly involved, has accused State Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose of interfering in the case for the Minister.
Without naming Punnoose, Rauf said in Kozhikode on Monday that he was going out of his way to protect Kunhalikutty in the ice cream parlour sex scandal. “I am not naming the person but I would call him the police chief… No police chief in Kerala has ever tried so much – as he does – to protect a Minister,” Rauf said.
“He is pursuing the special investigation team members wherever they go to know what they are doing. He consults the Advocate General on a regular basis to enquire about ways to sabotage the case. What I hear now is that he is asking the AG whether there is any way to register a case against me. But I know how to fight it if such a case comes up,” the businessman said.
Rauf said that the truth of the disclosures he had made could be established only through a polygraph test, adding that he had already informed ADGP Vincent M Paul, head of the probe team, that he was prepared to face that test. But Kunhalikutty also should be subjected to polygraph examination, he added.
