    Care for your TYRES

    Care for your tyres

The condition of our tyres is extremely important for our safety on the road; these are after all, the only contact we have with the road. Tyres in good conditions have a number of benefits. If you like driving fast, these would ensure a more stable and predictable grip scenario making evasive moves less dramatic. The same holds true for emergency braking. A good set of tyres also mean the rubber being in good condition which helps with the ride quality of the car and with it ascertains higher levels of comfort. You know your tyres are not in the pink of health when the rides deteriorates or the car tramlines more than it should or just pulls to one side without reason. Here we have listed some easy to do-it-yourself bits that will ensure your tyres remain healthy.

    1. Weight loss

Sometimes the weights attached to the tyres can get dislodged, if you do notice them missing, get it fixed immediately.

    2. Valve care

A valve is the primary air seal and helps to keep out dust and dirt particles too. Check that the valves and valve caps are in good condition to maintain an air tight seal.

    3. Stack them up

If the car is not in use for months, then it's recommended that you leave your car on supports and stack up the tyres in a cool place, so they don't get deformed. Try to avoid crushing your tyres under heavy objects.

    4. Tyre pressure

It's also recommended that tyre pressures are checked once a month using a properly calibrated gauge as shown.

    5. Tread depth
Tread depth of your tyres should be around 1.6mm. Replace if any lower. This is essential for stable cornering, braking as well as high speed driving.

    6. Naily issues

Regularly check to see if there are any nails or incisive objects already embedded in the tyre. Use a screwdriver to see if the object is a stone or a nail.

    7. Alloys & tyres
When getting new alloys it's best to stick with the car's original tyre circumference. It's also better to run higher profile tyres in India.

    8. Tyre rotation
It is important to rotate the tyres for even wear. This would depend on the type of car you drive. Equally important is to get the alignment checked. A sign that the car needs alignment is when it begins to pull to one side.
