    Raw Banana Vada

This is a very tasty and filling snack.
Can be taken as evening snack along with coffee or tea.
Can also be taken as starters in the parties.
Can be served for 3 to 4 persons.
    Cooking time approximately 30 minutes.

Urad dal - white -1 cup

    Curry leaves - 1 sprig
    Corriander leaves - small bunch
    Mint leaves - 20 leaves
    Asafoetida powder - 1tsp
    Salt to taste
    Oil for deep frying
Wash and soak urad dal in water for 2 hrs.
Grind it with very little water in to a very thick paste.
Note that water shou8ld be sprinkled while grinding.
Add red chillies and salt while grinding.
After gringind keep it in a separate bowl.

Cut the raw banana into two, put in a bowl containing water and boil till it is done.
Then peel it and mash it thouroughly.

Add all the other ingredients with the urad dal paste.
    Mix well.
Finally add mashed banana and mix everything very well.

Cut corriander curry leaves and mint leaves finely and add to the paste..

Put a kadai in the stove and heat 500gms oil and when the oil is hot take a small lemon size pastes, pat it evenly like the thickness of a vada and deep fry 30 at a time and serve hot with coconut chutney.

Instead of raw banana we can also use boiled and mashed potatoes.
When the oil is ready to fry the vadas, keep the flame to medium heat and fry the vadas.
