The order was issued on the directive of the state High Court.
An official press release said diseases like influenza, TB, relapsing fever, diphteria and endemic fever could be caused by spitting and sneezing in public places and offices.
The unhealthy practice also created revulsion in tourists, it said adding spitoons would be installed in select places and the office premises.

Who knows whether it will work but if they do it will be a better place for people.Acutally they should start to take FINE for doing that and this way goverment will also get money.

YES! YES! YES! OMG No one has any idea how long I wanted this rule to be passed! Quite frankly I find this habit in south india very repulsive. I understand if you are chewing tobacco. But i noticed even young men standing on the sides of the road spitting frequently as if it was common as breathing. YUCK!
I'm glad now the govt is doing something useful!

Good move at least now indians have realised the need to be cultured, it will take time, but the first step is always important.
